- The Police said they are still unsure of the cause of the explosion that shook Oyo State’s capital, Ibadan, late on Tuesday. Tension has arisen in the historic city as a result of the tragedy that apparently resulted in multiple deaths.
- To address the growing concerns about insecurity around the nation, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has called a critical meeting with the Force Management Team and Tactical Squads. In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi said that although the IGP expressed grave worry over the condition of affairs, he underlined the necessity of prompt action.
- According to President Bola Tinubu, the border barrier prevents former President Muhammadu Buhari from moving to the Niger Republic. During the launch of two books, “Muhammadu Buhari: The Nigerian Legacy – 2015 – 2023 (Vols 1-5)” and “Working with Buhari (2015 – 2023),” Tinubu made this statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

- On Tuesday, the naira dropped from N1,265 per dollar on Monday to N1,295 per dollar in the secondary market. On the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, the naira lost value and was worth N878.57 for every dollar (NAFEM).
- In the Kudu village of Toto Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, a violent confrontation between the Gbagyi and Bassa ethnic groups over a land dispute has resulted in seven fatalities and numerous injuries. It was learned that the Gbagyi people had settled in a community where the Bassa ethnic group was believed to have invaded, causing the issue.
- The Ministry of Works received a budgetary allocation from the National Assembly of N1.03 trillion, up from N657.3 billion in the proposed budget. This is a rise of N373 billion, or 56.7%, over the initial amount stated in the appropriations law. Additionally, it is a 65.4% increase over the sum authorized in the budget for 2023.
- The kidnappers of Rev. Gideon Haanongon, the interim chairman of Benue State’s Ukum Local Government Area, have contacted his family and requested N50 million in ransom. The chairman, together with his chauffeur, personal assistant, and police orderly, were taken in the early hours of Saturday.
- The Nigerian government is about to receive a fresh infusion of foreign money worth £6.9m ($8.9m) or N8.2 billion (converted to naira). This comes as a result of a UK court’s decision to repatriate the funds—which are thought to be pilfered money intended for the purchase of weapons—to Nigeria.
- The All Progressives Congress, or APC, National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and former National Chairman Senator Adams Oshiomole declared their resolve to take back Edo State. Insisting that Edo State is an APC state, Ganduje made this claim during a meeting with state stakeholders.
